Exercise calories

When adding my exercise to diary the calories seem unrealistically low. Like a 20 minute walk just 10 cal. Is this correct or am I filling it in wrong.

Depends on how fast/slow you are walking and what kind of terrain you are walking on. Anywhere from 5-10 cals burned per minute is possible depending on your speed and intensity while walking. So maybe you are filling it in wrong.
  • I walk medium speed carrying or pushing a toddler. Think I am filling in wrong as in gym on treadmill is a big difference even in warm up.

A Heart Rate Monitor (with a chest strap) is the way to go if you are not using one already.

Gym/home work-out machines are very inconsistent and (my two cents) MFP grossly OVER-estimates calories burned.

With a HRM you can add in your own personal stats for better accuracy. Height, Weight, Age, etc.

This is the website I use...it is fairly accurate, I like it particularly beacause not only can I not afford a hr monitor but cant stand the feeling of something being wrapped around my body when I run
