I haven't the foggiest what to set my calories at. MFP has set it too low at 1400. I'm female, 29 years old, 5' 7, weighing 148 pounds. My aim is to drop a pound a week and ultimately get to 135 pounds. I am non exclusively breast feeding my 14 month old which allows me 300 extra calories. I am lightly active and do intense kettlebell workouts for 40 mins, 4 times a week, burning 450-500 cals per workout.
I'm fairly new on MFP and have read on TDEE and BMR and deducting 20% from something or another but too much reading has confused me. Could anyone please be a huge star and help me calculate how much calories I should set per day and whether I should consume exercise cals in that or if its already included in the number.
Thank you!

1) First of all look up IPOARM to find out your TDEE
2). I hate to give advice to breast feeding moms, but since you are eating too litttle I will.
3). I think you should add 500 calories a day for nursing, not 300
4). I am 5'7" and weigh 148 pounds!!! My TDEE is about 1850 to 2000 calories a day. I know this is correct because I have been maintaining for the last three months or so. I am 45 years old so my TDEE will be lower than yours:)
5) I think if you eat 2300 calories a day (that's with me adding 500 for nursing) you will be at or below your TDEE.
2100 a day with your estimation of 300 calories for nursing.
My advice is to eat !!! Your baby needs it.
You can friend me just to check my diary every day. I'm headed towards fifty, I don't exercise much and I'm thinking of losing five pounds by eating 1600 to 1700 calories a day
Ok I just reread that your baby is 14 months, so perhaps 300 calories is ok:). So my advice is this:
2100 calories per day minus 10% is 1850.
Do this for a month. Then tweak it:)0 -
