Do you input height and weight and does it track your heartrate?
  • That is way, way high. Excercise machines are notorious for how much they overestimate....

An honest, tough, hourlong effort, without looking at heart rate, fitness level, age, etc, is more likely 5-600.

In my opinion, the calorie counter on the machines are not accurate, They over calculate. I did 40 mins on the Elliptical today and my machine said I burned close to 600 cals when my HRM said I burned 480.

First, that's almost certainly too high for your HR. There are a couple of web sites out there to calculate your ideal ranges based off age and standing heart rate, but I would bet that's way too high unless you are a pro athlete or 12 years old.

Second, I don't trust the monitors on the exercise machine mainly for the reasons that others mention. It doesn't take into account sex, age, height, and weight, all of which are important when calculating energy burn. The machines take a rough swag or average out the other factors.I don't have much experience with other brands, but the sensor on my Nordic Trac treadmill is WAY different than what my HRM and Endomondo say.
