Busy lifestyles have wreaked havoc on a lot of us. I, too, have been working to shift my thoughts toward healthier living. I am trying diligently to make permanent changes that I can live with long-term. I have about the same amount to shed. Feel free to add me as a friend. I keep my diary open if you want to take a look anytime. I am far from perfect, but I am using my natural hard-headedness to its full advantage and attempting to rewire my brain to think fruit and veggies are better than the "bad stuff."

I once saw a weight loss show that featured a radio personnel who was constantly in the car. The individual would eat BAGS of apples and really overall had total portion control problems.

If I may, I'd suggest that, just like the rest of us, you prep your meals and snacks in advance of your trips. You can keep healthy snacks in the car. Like, healthy granola bars, nuts, and fruits like apples or bananas. Then, you have food ready at your fingers tips that you can eat while driving. If that doesn't suit your fancy, then, just make sure to prepare a lunch to take with you.

I recently worked with a personal trainer who brings a lunch kit with her EVERYWHERE she goes. If she is going shopping on the weekend, she brings her huge lunch box (think, Coleman cooler) - that has everything she needs in it to stay on track. Yes, it's more work, yes it means lugging around a cooler in your car, however, if being healthy is that important to you it's a small price to pay.

Research easy to bring with you foods or easy prep foods to make it less challenging for yourself.

I love you idea of retraining your brain. That is what I am going to do too. I am also going to follow the other advice on this post in preparing for anything. Though I don't see myself bringing a cooler to the mall :).
  • Thank you!!! It's going to be a tough road!! I love entertaining the customers with dinner & drinks. Guess I am going to cut that out. Thanks for the support.

My goal is to lose 55 pounds. The way I see it going out to eat doesn't have to be all bad, as long as you pay attention to what you're ordering. Example, mickey d's has a chicken blt (really good btw) just 380 calories. The fries are what kill ya (230 for the SMALL!) and the soda. Gotta fight the temptation :)
