After a big workout i need to fill up immediately on something like Pasta or Rice (normally with Tuna or Chicken).
Those of you who don't eat Carbs (such as Pasta, Rice, Bread, potatoes) ....what do you eat after doing lots of exercise?
I've been wanting to know the answer to this question for ages.

Most people I know fill themselves up with protein after a workout. I'll have anything from a shake, to grilled chicken/veggies, grilled salmon/veggies, sauteed shrimp, etc.0

protein and fat and a tiny number of carbs.0

That's typically the only time I carb up - but with a banana or sweet potato if I do, with some cottage cheese. Then a meal of a protein & veggies. A big omlet is delicious, too! Or any eggs.0

I eat carbs by the truckload, however after a workout I typically stick to a protein shake and then go home later and have dinner.0

To piggyback off of this - what kind of carbs do you all eat during the day? On one hand, I'm insulin-resistant, so I have to to watch my carbs.. Admittedly, I don't always do this.. But, I really need to now as I've gained some wt. But, on the other hand, I workout daily.. and run races.. I need carbs for energy.. But, can't do bread/pasta anymore.. Or very little. What thoughts are out there?? I make Quinoa and am looking into wheat subsitutes .. I mean, it's hard to run a marathon off of bananas and berries.. I'm open to suggestion on low-glycemic carbs.. Everyone says protein etc. But, I'm hungry unless I eat carbs! But, now I'm getting fat from them! HELP.0

Low carb protein shake and my reward for working out, a square of dark chocolate. Yeah chocolate has carbs but one square doesn't have a lot.0

Vegetables. Lots of them. Feel free to browse my diary.
And I play rugby on bananas and sweet potatoes (I avoid wheat). I can lose if I exercise and keep my carbs under 100g a day, I am also insulin resistant. I have chosen to control mine with diet, rather than drugs.
Rice is another option for some non-wheat carbs, but it's pretty nutritionally empty. I opt for the bananas and sweet potatoes, since I get more nutrients from them. But, I'm hungry unless I eat carbs!
Eat more fat (good fats, not trans or high omega 6 fats) and more protein. I aim for at least 100g protein a day, and generally get a lot more.0
