Can researchers bring the condom, which first appeared on 12,000-year-old cave paintings, into the 21st century? Bill Gates hopes so. The Microsoft founder-turned-philanthropist is offering a $100,000 prize to whomever can develop the "next-generation condom."

    There's this really cool company called Origami Condoms (http://www.origamicondoms.com/#!condoms/chql) that have redesigned condoms for males, females, and have specific condoms for anal too. Unfortunately the company just started so products won't hit the market until 2015, providing they're approved.

    I know it might seem silly to get so excited about condoms, but there's been a pretty significant rise in STIs. If someone can improve upon the design to where more men and women are willing to use them, than it's $100,000 well spent.
