Just wondering where you are, I had read some posts and thoroughly enjoyed reading them as ......you sound just like me...ha ha, I am 52 and weight loss is very slow and my calories have to be reduced, it appears that when I eat 1200 around and limit to one serving of carbs (e.g. 2 slices of toast) two servings of lean protein and veggies, 2 fruit, one dairy and one 100 calorie snack and tons of water I will loose...slow but I will loose, can't eat my exercise calories back that did not work and I don't think for what I do it would warrant that, if I was running marathons maybe........ so I just don't. Exercise I am not going to start running marathons, but I do yoga, 30DS on and off, aqua fit and love walking ...when this suptid snow goes, as you get this little ache and that.....I feel 20 and think I should still move like 20 but you do just "slow" down somewhat....but with that being said, I love my life where I am at, kids are grown, have a beautiful grandson......just want to be healthy and thinner to be able to keep up with him......so let me hear your secrets, tips to get me on my journey......I would love to loose 40 pounds!!! Thanks....Happy Easter !

Well, I'm here intermittently, but I still exercise as much as I have time for. Lately my knee and heel have been bothering me making it difficult to exercise and not hurt either during or after exercise. I used to like riding my bike, but now I'm afraid my knee won't allow it. As for calories, yes, they need to be seriously limited to lose. No way around that. That's something that keeps me from losing very much because 1200 calories is a very small amount of food. I've lately been considering Medifast. One of my doctors is promoting it and has a "coach" that helps keep users on track. Haven't committed yet, but I'm thinking about it.

I turned 50 in June and have been on MFP for more than 2 years. My goal was to do a push up ( a real one) by my 50th birthday- something I had never done in my entire life and which was an embarrassment to me way back in high school, along with not being able to do chin ups! Until I was about 45 I just excused myself that I had no upper body strength- then I realized I could change that!! Anyway- my advice is take it slow and steady, and keep aiming for some reasonable goal. When you achieve it - make a new one!

Friend me too if you like.

I'll be 52 in May. Since last May, I have lost 47 pounds - basically by eating less and building up to doing about an hour of cardio a day. I still have 42 pounds to go, and I joined MFP in January. I haven't lost anything in a while, but I haven't gained either, so I am thankful for that! The over-50 body is definitely a little stubborn! I know I have to switch up my program, add some strength training, and figure out the calories to get the rest of the weight off, but I WILL DO IT!!!! Feel free to friend me if you would like. I'm from Michigan.

Hello. I noticed a big change when my age neared and hit 50. I used to be able to eat anything and it didn't show... well, not much. My weight has always fluctuated. Now I have to work so hard at keeping my weight down! Gotta love aging, huh? I can no longer indulge on ice cream and sweets like I used to. I do work hard... clean a horse barn.. so that helps, but now I have to do all sorts of other exercises. I love to walk! I also love dancing (alone where nobody can see me.. hehe), weight lifting, and so much more. I love being outside! So I'm glad the weather is changing and I can get my bike out soon.

I think for me, cutting out sweets has been a big help. I still enjoy one now and then and I indulge in a cappuccino every morning but I am trying to eat healthier. Whole grains, more fruits and vegies... And one of the big things for me is that I need to vary my workouts. Kind of fool my body into thinking "oh, we're doing that today? ok. I guess I'll burn calories." Does that make sense?

The other thing that helped me start to lose is I have to be totally honest about how active I am. And I have to realize that now I'm not burning as many calories in an activity as I once did. My metabolism has changed, I'm sure! I set my activity level lower than what I think it should be but I add in my activities and exercises. But I don't eat all those calories back. I try to leave around 200 a day. So far I think it's working. Time will tell.

    Happy Easter to you too!
