Go to "Exercise" on your tabs, then click "Database," enter "Walk" and enter your weight in pounds and duration to calculate how much you've lost in pounds.

Typically you burn 100 calories for every mile you walk/run/jog.

It depends on your weight primarily, but body fat %, speed, hill, no hill, etc... will also factor in. For instance I currently am 265 pounds and when I do a 3 mile walk at 3.5+ MPH with a couple small hills I burn in the neighborhood of 500 - 600 calories. (The lower my weight goes the lower that calorie number will go)

I use Endomondo on my phone to do the math for me, and it automatically posts it to MFP. Works great!

walking is great to burn fat, you burn less muscle and its better on the joints.. you burn according to your age, weight and sex.. 3 miles might be too much... get on the treadmill and walk at a 2.8-3.5 pace and an incline of 6-10 percent. do that for about 1.5-2 miles and you should be good.

I walked 4 miles on my lunch break today, at 4.25 - 4.5 mph, and burned 474 calories. I'm using HRM, and the number always comes up higher than MFP.
