Help! How much should I be eating??

Hey guys, I need help, I have no idea how many calories and what macros I should have my acct set at. I plan on starting Turbofire as soon as it gets here (so prob tuesday) according to MFP I should be eating 1210 cal even working out 6 days a week....according to the Beachbody site I should be at 1462. Which one should I be listening to or should it be different.

Just for reference in 5'2" 26 years old and weight 148 lbs with a goal to lose 23 lbs.

Thanks!!

I get 2004/day for you to maintain your weight.

1603 is a 20% reduction, any more than that is to little.

So eat 1603 and on days you work out, if you feel tired or hungry, nothing wrong with going over a bit. Just stay under 2000 and you will lose weight.

    It's so simple.

I'm terrible at calculating calorie counts, but the above poster presents a much better idea. Turbofire is a serious workout - you're going to need more than 1400 to fuel it.

Eat what MFP tells you to, then log your exercise and eat those calories back also.

if you set your weight loss goal on mfp for 2lbs a week, I feel the numbers are skewed. Try setting it to 1lbs loss per week.

Also, figure out your BMR and TDEE.

    Generally eat 10-20% below TDEE,
    always eat above BMR.

This. I'd buy a heart rate monitor so you can know how much to eat though,

Yea, I calculated your BMR @ 1457, you are working to hard to lose those beautiful muscles, don't eat below this.

MFP sets things to low, how can they claim to be such a successful weight loss site? They have everyone starving themselves. So of course we see good results everywhere, it's so easy to lose weight being malnourished.

I think the problem is that MFP assumes you're going to exercise also, then you're much closer to what you should actually be eating. I end up eating more when I have a good workout than what other sites are telling me to eat with TDEE - 20% for 3-4 moderate workouts a week.

Actially MFP doesnt set anything to low, its the users that tell MFP they want to lose 2 lb per week which in most case causes the 1200 cal settings. Then the users also think they will lose more by not eating exercise cals back. Not really MFP fault.
  • thanks guys :D i def know MFP is too low, and that is set at 1 lb per week....

my TDEE with heavy exercise (which is defined as exercising 6 days a week) is 2522
subtract 20% would be 2472? now that seems insanely high

i did buy an HRM im just waiting for it to get here as well....so should i just add that to something lol

    2522 minus 20 % equals 2018 calories.

I went with the conservative 1-3 times a week.
