Fatigue after cardio

I seem to get very tired after cardio. Find myself really needing a nap afterwards. Not sure if there is something wrong with me or am I just getting old? (43) Planning to ask my doc at my next physical. Anyone else feel this way?

I'm 44 and cardio has the opposite affect on me. I feel energized right after the workout. Sometimes I feel a little tired a few hours afterward.

Yes, I feel that way, too, but I am also quite a bit older than you are. Definitely talk to your doc. I have fibromyalgia which leads to a lot of fatigue. I also have thyroid issues and arthritis.

There's always something wrong with me but you need your doc to figure out if there is anything wrong with you.

You might ask your doctor to check your ferritin (iron stores) level. I went through the same thing around your age. My usual spin class left me so tired, I just wanted to go home and sleep! Turns out I was anemic. My hemoglobin levels were fine but I had virtually no iron reserves (ferritin) at all.
Might be worth asking about at your doctor's appointment.

Have you pushed cardio harder just recently? Whenever I get back to exercising after taking way too long of a break(weeks or a month or so off), I typically feel a little sluggish afterwards. But after I keep the exercising and jogging/running for 4 days a week I really start to feel more energetic afterwards.

Come to think of it, it was after taking a long break due to injuries. Maybe my body just couldn't handle it. Been running for about a month now, and seem to be building my stamina.

So you expend a ton of energy and you get tired after? Odd

I know it's normal to feel tired. I just seem to get unusually more tired than I have in the past.
