Am I on the right track?

Hi .. Im new here .. and fat.

I recently sat down with my doctor and talked about weight loss, she gave me some guidelines to follow and I am trying my best but unsure if I am on the right track or not ..

I am 30
5'5
245 pounds presently (started at 250)
Goal 175 (need to lose 75 lbs)

My doctor said I burn 1900 calories daily just being me. She told me to aim for 1700 daily with 120g of protein daily.

Right now my only exercise is walking (she recommended I take off 20 pounds before moving to a more exercise to avoid injuries)

For the last 7 days I have been using MFP to track what I eat .. typically I can reach my 1700 calories with 3 meals and 2 snacks and am not feeling hungry. But I was only averaging 80g of protein .. and that was with lots of high protein foods! Yesterday I made a homemade protein shake with whey powder and some homemade protein bars. I had the protein shake for lunch .. it ended up making a huge glass full .. I drank it all but I felt VERY full afterwords, that was around noon for lunch .. I felt full ALL DAY .. I ended forcing myself to have dinner at 6 simply because I knew it was dinner time. I reached my 120g of protein yesterday .. but ended up at 1500 calories because I was not hungry for an afternoon snack and had a smaller dinner.

I feel like hitting 120g of protein keeps me full enough I cant reach my 1700 calories .. and I read enough on here to know you cant run on a large calories deficit like that.

I am eating eggs, greek yogurt, nuts, quinoa, multigrain, oatmeal ... lots of high protein foods. I also drink half my weight in water, 120 oz a day.

I did lose 4.6 lbs last week! I know thats a lot for 1 week but I am sure it was mostly water weight or something .. I dont think it will keep up like that each week.

Am I on the right track??

Your doctor is 100% correct! Keep what you're doing protein should be a hug priority and it is suppose to keep you full longer it is has a huge amount satiety.

What your doctor told you matches the three rules^^^ and that is how I lost fat.

  • You're doing great and I'll give you a tip I learned at the Wellspring weight loss camps. Try having less than 20 grams fats of fat a day :) good luck.
