Where are my calories coming from?

Hi There, I am new to MFP and loving it.
There is one thing I don't quite understand - when I add up all my food I eaten on a day it gives me totals of calories, fat, sugars, carbs etc. Often my calories are around my limit but the other values are much lower. So where are my calories coming from if I consume eg. full daily calorie limit but only half of me daily goal of fat, protein and sugar? What should I be watching out for?
Thanks for any advice!

If you open your diary, people might be able to get a better idea.

One reason might be that some of the foods you eat don't have full nutrition information added - member added foods sometimes only have calorie data and nothing in the other fields.
  • Watch your sodium intake also plus are you drinking water?

Many foods (if not most) are user added and may not include all the nutritional breakdowns. When I add one (rarely) I try to include everything for that reason. Also, not all the breakdown is included in your read-out. Only about 6-7 areas are assessed ... others can be added in settings but you have to delete some. I really have not run into this problem though... I usually cheat carbs and am heavy on the protein... (need to cheat fat more I suppose but that is hard to do).
