I am currently a member of slimming world and I am struggling with it. The first week I lost 2.5llb and then maintained for 2 weeks and have now put on 2llb. The problem is, although generally its quite a good plan I just can't stick with it.
Today I just made pasta sauce.. it taste like crap!!! I am thinking I need to go back to calorie counting so I can include the things I love
I.e PIZZA!! and apple pie!
I just don't think it fits into my life very well.
Has anyone had any experiance following this kind of plan? Or any advise for me?

Any plan that doesn't 'allow' you to have the foods you want isn't going to work for you long term. I'm not opposed to doing things for a short period of time to meet a specific goal (such as figure competitions) but for general weight loss the best plan is going to be whatever you can adhere to.
Things that 'taste like crap' and restrict the foods you can eat aren't usually great in terms of adherence.0 -
i like slimming world but it didn;t really suit me either,
e.g on slimming world plan it's perfectly fine to have say 5 bananas that would add to approx 500 cals but yet a slice of cake at 500 cals would be pretty much your entire syns gone for the day - I prefer calorie counting as you can have a little of anything another e.g i sometimes bake my own soft bread rolls that are just gorgeous they work out (depending on how many i get out the dough) around 137 cals each on SW though they would be about 8 syns, you're only allowed a max of 15 syns, so if i cook a healthy curry for e.g using low fat coconut milk again that's my entire syns gone without even a but of mayo on my bread e.t.c with MFP i'm still well within my cals e.t.c and yet i have had a healthy meal and a little something of what i like iykwim
I have seen slimming world work really well though for many people I have a friend who is following it and it's suiting her really well and she is losing weight very well on it
I have an old ED that i struggle with all the time part of the problem with slimming world for me is all the free food my portions would be far too big on sw, with MFP i am learning to control my portion sizes better
all that being said though lately i can't stop thinking about food i feel hungry more lately and i am struggling a bit and been wondering if i should give sw another chance most of my meals i cook are already either syn free or low syn is the treats that';s my prob0 -
oh and can i ask why did your pasta sauce taste so bad?? with sw your seasonings are free there should be no reason why you can't make a heathy tasty meal on it
was it a spag bol sauce? would you like my syn free recipe?0 -
While calories is a numbers game, you can't just eat whatever you want... If that was the case then we wouldn't need this site. Moderation is the key, I do eat pizza but very rarely. Same with other "trouble" foods.0

Of course. But the fact is on SW there is no scope. With calories I can get a mini pizza, add salad with it and thats a nice meal.0 -

It was one made from passata, with chilli and itallian herbs.
Yes please!0 -

oh yea you need more seasoning than that when making with pasata
ok here is what i do my measurements are not exact as i add to taste but this is what i put in mine and it always turns out lovely and is syn free (have a few recipe syn free i can give you if you want them i will compile them and PM you with them just pm first so i don't forget)
Onion chopped fine, fresh garlic a good 3-4 cloves crushed or chopped fine, fry off in fry light, ad your meat to brown, chopped, mushrooms and peppers, a jar of pasata or a couple of tins of chopped tomatoes, swartz spice italian (if you want a little kick otherwise normal itallian mix is fine), i also add a bit of mixed herbs and oregano (whatever is in my cupboard), and 2 oxo beef stock cube (assuming you are in UK where you can get oxo if not a beef bulion is fine or knorr beef stock pot whatever you prefer), and I add about half a tsp of sugar or sweetner to just take the bitterness out of the tomaotoe, and salt to taste

you can have the occasional 'flexi' day otherwise known as cheat day with SW you should ask your leader how it works0 -
I've done Slimming World three times, and although I did lose some weight with it, I was never happy on it. I much prefer to choose myself what's healthy and what I want to eat. And it's quite expensive!0
