I have a question about those HR watches- How do you use them? They monitor your HR, I know that, but how do you translate that into how many calories you have burned? Just wondering because I would like have an accurate account of how many cals I am burning. Thanks, and I hope this isn't a stupid question... I am new to this.

The HRM has a formula in it, you supply your age, weight, and a couple other numbers, mine has a chest strap to get an accurate HR and it calcs and shows you real time how much you are burning, you can get a decent one with a strap for $80-100,0

How do you use them? Just put them on and they work. SOME monitors give you caloric burn, others do not, be sure to research the right one for you before you buy.0

I have a polar ft7 and it does it for you. I wear if I know I need to to hours or ironing and it tells me how many calories I'm burnt. I can wear it swimming. You have to set it up when you first get it and make sure you change your weight each time you lose any. I love mine.0

Here's a calculator to estimate based on average bpm.

There's a ton of posts on here about this, so if you search for HRM you will find some good links. But in general, I would recommend one with a chest strap (I too have a Polar FT7) for accuracy.0

I have a SportLine Duo 1025 w/Chest Strap. I'm obsessed. I dont like to stop unless I see 500+ calories burnt. It really keeps you motivated!0
