Flavored drink choices that are on the cleaner side?

I drink a lot of water. I like coffee drinks, but I realize they're full of sugar and most likely other non-healthy stuff. I do like drinking milk usually when I'm out and about. Any suggestions for cleaner drinks on the go besides water? Thanks!

the little shakey things taste great...crystal lights is best
  • special k20 drinks. you add a packet of powder to a bottle of water or 16 oz glass. so far, i've found pink lemonade, strawberry kiwi and iced tea. they are only 30 calories and 5 g. of protein and 5 g. of fiber. they taste good too, if you as me better than crystal light.

I like the Market Pantry sugar-free drinks mixes from Target. I don't like Crystal Light because it tastes watered down to me.

    Milk, iced tea with lemon.

Sometimes I make a pitcher of iced tea and put some raspberries, orange slices, and mint in it.

Crystal light ( or the generic versions like Market Pantry --- LOVE Target!-- and Great Value), Ocean Spray also has some yummy drink packets... I like the peach white cranberry.

Also, I'm not a huge coffee drinker (except for once a week I treat myself to a tall, non fat latte from Starbucks) but the grocery stores now sell 100 calorie Starbucks bottled Frappuccinos (they are light mocha and light vanilla). The regular bottled fraps are 200+ calories, so this is nice!

I recently tried Sobe Lean and it's really good. A 20oz bottle is 15 calories.

    Thanks for all the replies!

By "cleaner" I mean I don't use any artificial sweeteners or anything, and I don't want anything with too much sugar. I was thinking of looking into flavored teas that are low in sugar. I'll look around more when I go to the store next.

Oh, I love those Izze sparkling juices, but they still have a lot of sugar.

I'm in the UK so I don't know if they're available in the US, but cordials are nice - Belvoir makes lovely ones that aren't full of artificial anything and are very low cal (I measure a shot glass full which if memory serves is about 35 calories). They're especially nice in sparkling water.
  • Sobe Life Water is good.....they have lots of yummy flavors too. I am also a big fan of the Crystal Light or Great Value to go packets....that is what gets me thru my daily water intake!

Crystal Light has no sugar, but it does use Aspartame. I love the Raspberry Lemonade. I find that I can use half of the recommended amount and it still tastes great.
Other than that, I haven't found anything that doesn't have a ton of sugar.

FYI: eating clean is about not consuming any processed ingredients (which is what Crystal light is).

Stick with fruit juice and seltzer water or possibly the shelf stable individual servings of milk (Horizon has some).

    Water with:

    sliced cucumbers
    fresh sage leaves
fresh mint leaves (+ lemon and cucumber is my current fave.)
    orange slices
    lemon slices

I keep a pitcher of water with one of these in my fridge most of the time.

    Spa water deliciousness.

Or herbal unsweetened teas (there are some fruity ones that are great for the summertime.)

    The flavored water sounds great!

Be careful with fruit juice. It's processed as well and has a TON of sugar. Orange juice is the worst.
  • I brew a pitcher of Green Tea, go organic it is less processed. Then add lemon or lime to change the flavor. They have come out with alot of flavored organic Green Teas.
Also instead of Sugar you can use Agave Nector and it is a natural sweetener, and clean. YOur Blood Sugar doesn't spike with it. I read about it in a clean eating cook book! Use it all the time on my oatmeal with ground flax seed. Hope it helps and good luck!

I should say that each line is an "or", but you can combine them. I wouldn't mix the sage with the mint, but other than that...good stuff. It's just lightly "not water" water. It tastes very fancy.

I really like the Canada Dry raspberry or even just a club soda with a twist of lime. I get tired of just plain water sometimes and not fond of sweet drinks.

Try Tazo Passion tea - I love it cold even more than I do hot, though it's good either way. It's easy to make a pitcherful and use it to fill waterbottles for when you're on the go. it is VERY flavorful, in my opinion - needs no sugar or really anything added to make it good.

I guess I should have stated that eating/drinking clean involves no artifical ingredients (ie: splenda, sweet & low, equal, preservities or artifical colors). We do consume raw sugars: honey, beet/cane sugar, agave, maple syrup, ect. It depends on the juice if it's truly 'processed' or not. I like to buy R W Knudsen juices as they have no added sugars, colors, or preservitives.

Make some home made lemonade: keep it in a pitcher in the fridge and then fill up your to go drink container on the way out of the house.

I would also recomed subscribing to Clean Eating Magazine-It is one of the best magazines I have ever spent my money on.
