Hey everyone,
My goal is to be able to run a mile without stopping. Right now i can only go about 2 min before I'm dying. Anyone have a good plan on how to build up to being able to run distance? Thanks

I have been told about the C25K program. I am going to be starting it this weekend. It's a 9 week program, 3 days a week and after the 9 weeks is up, you should be able to run a 5K (3 miles). It will help with stregnth and endurance. Some I know that have completed took longer, but eventually did it. I am hoping to run a 5k at the end of this summer!0

I'm interested in knowing as well. I've been running everyday for 2 weeks and I still can't run very far. I think at this point my fitness is improving but right now I think it is more of a mental block preventing me from running far. Like you, around 2 minutes is my max right now, even at a slow jog. I think my mind is just used to not doing it and I give up easily. I've put in 30 miles in the last 2 weeks, but still can't run for far. I'm just going to keep on doing it until I make a breakthrough some day.0

When I first started running I joined a running club. What they had us do is: Run for 3 minutes at 5.0mph then walk for 2 minutes. Repeat until goal is accomplished. Do this three times a week with a day's break in between.
Week 2: add time to your run (even if its 30 seconds, but try for that extra minute). ALWAYS/only walk for 2 minutes.0 -
definetly couch25k. The link ishttp://www.ullreys.com/robert/Podcasts/. Awesome program to work up to 3.1 miles in 9 weeks0

The first 10 mins are the worst! I usually don't get into the grove till somewhere around 15 mins. Stick with it. It gets a lot better!0

Finished my first week! Now on to week two. The only problem I came across is that my hips and knees and legs start hurting A LOT while I'm running. Day 1 was fine, Day 2 and Day 3 were killers. It hurt to walk afterward, but it went away after an hour or so. I'm wondering if this is just because my body is so NOT used to running that the impact was hurting me? Anyone else have this problem?
