Starting Tomorrow and Needing Friends!

No - really I am starting this time!!

My name is Jenny, I am 26 and live in England. I work full time in an office and am also a part time carer. I have at least 60 pounds to lose. :( It is shocking that I have let myself get so overweight - I must have realised. My clothes kept getting tighter but I stayed firmly in denial.

I really need to take control and just get fit and healthy. I am so sick of feeling so fat and unfit. I want to feel like I am 26! My weight and how I feel about my appearance is holding me back. It keeps me scared and too timid to try new things.

It just sickens me that I had this healthy body and I ruined it through laziness and greed. There are people born with physical issues through no fault of my own and yet I created my own.

I want to get strong and fit and to a healthy weight. Not just thin - doesn't appeal to me - I want to be able to run and lift weights! I am a wimp and weakling but I am going to toughen up.

If you made it through all that rambling well done!! :) Add me as a friend if you want to motivate and be motivated in return! I am determined to do this and to log in every day.

It is easier if you think of it as losing one pound at a time..small goals each week...they will add up. Good luck We will root for you here. Just don't give up.

    Hi Jenny,

I am from the UK and 21. I set a goal for 70pounds so we are going for around the same goal. It sounds bigger than it is! But it is achievable. I have 47pounds to go.
I have been naughty with my food for the past 3 days so I will be starting tomorrow as well, hopefully we can help each other :)

i felt the same as you, feeling awful and hating life and really hating myself for having gained this much weight. i started 6 weeks ago, and have already dropped 15lbs by eating right. i still have yet to hit the gym..but i know thats coming.

you can do it. my best advice is to be on the forums as much as you can, and log EVERYTHING you eat. drink TONS of water and never give up. walk when you can, move as much as you can, and get rid of anything in the house that will tempt you to eat it ALL.

its all about portion control. you can eat the foods you like, and dont have to suffer.

congrats on finding yourself again. !!

    **edit**
i also work in an office, and found id never leave for lunch and eat at my desk. i now still eat my lunch at my desk, but i then use that hour to walk for 60mins. its helped tremendously!
  • Good luck, I try to keep motivating and commenting peoples' progresses, it motivates me :)
    Added you as a friend.

The first and easiest step for you to take is changing all of your grains to whole grains. That alone should drop quite a few pounds of fat!

Welcome Jenny, feel free to add me as a MFP buddy. I have been on MFP for over a year and enjoy motivating, supporting and generally being here for my Pals. You have taken the first step, now the hard work begins. Log daily, read the labels, keep track of the calories and get in workouts as routinely as you can. We will be here to answer any questions we can, support and motivate you. Good luck on this amazing journey.
  • Its actually so nice reading about people who feel exactly the same as me. I feel exactly the same way. I have aaaaaalllll these nice clothes from when I was thin, but I started picking up weight (then losing some, only to pick up double the amount) and now I have to buy new clothes (sigh). However I decided that this time I really am going to loose the weight (and not just dieting for a week).

The absolute worst is dressing for a night out and I feel so fat in everything :-0

Diets usually start off with me eating almost nothing and doing sit-ups every night. Then by the end of the week I end up feeling depressed when I did not lose what I expected and chucking the whole diet. This time I decided that just eating healthy is the better option.

To motivate myself I bought myself a rowing-machine - so I will see how that goes from tomorrow! Pleeeease I need all the motivation that I can get!

Welcome, Jenny. I've tried a lot of different things, but MFP seems to be working quite well, and adding friends does make one realize that you need not go it alone...plus knowing others are watching (and not judging) helps keep me honest.

You or anyone else who is truly serious about being part of a support network and achieving a healthier lifestyle may feel free to add me as an MFP friend. We can do this!

Welcome Jenny, feel free to add me as a MFP buddy.
    I too am starting tommorrow.
I work in an office and our office started a wellness/ finess/weight loss challenge which starts tommorrow. There are 7 teams with 7 people on each team. I am one of the captians. I am going to try to keep my team motivated.
12 weeks - see what team is the winning team and which employee is the biggest loser.
I know I need support and motivation as well.
I know we can do this..

  • Thank you for the welcome everyone!

In a way I feel better knowing that others feel the same way I do but on the other hand it is sad too. I hate to think that people feel so bad about themselves. :( x
  • Hi, I'm 26 and feel the same, I work in an office to and it can be hard to resist snacking when you sit at a desk all day. good luck with it all!
