Weight Plateau - Nutritionist or Not?!?!?!

Ever since the new year, I have been struggling with loosing the last ten pounds that I need to loose! I continue to hover at the 171/172 number and cannot break through that number. I am a runner and was thinking of adding some weight training to my workout schedule to see if that helps, but I am having my doubts.

I am now thinking of seeing a nutritionist because a piece of me is worried that I am not taking in enough calories.

If you have or have seen a nutritionist, how did you find them? Covered by insurance? What should I expect?

TIA!!!!

    Hey Tia!,

First of all i would like to say i'm sorry you hit a plateau, but with the information you have provided no one can really tell you whether you have enough calories or not, tried to look at your diary but it's private.

Another important factor would be the time you run and how much. Running puts a lot of stress on your body and will raise cortisol levels, so its best to get any of that done before 3pm so your body has time to "destress" before you head to bed.

I would recommend you setting up a macro-nutrient profile(ex. 40gfat 200 carbs 100 protein) and sticking to it for 2 weeks, weighing in everyday and modify your carbohydrates according to which way you want the scale to go (move them down for loss, or up for gain) .... now the above is just an example, you can use a calculator online to get a good rough estimate of your daily caloric needs, then set a 500 calorie deficit, i wouldn't move your fat's to below 20% of your caloric intake or above 30%, the best thing to manipulate will be carbohydrates because they definitely are not essential.

Wish you the best in your fitness endeavors!
