I was wondering... aren't foods that have "hydrogenated" or "partially hydrogenated" oils supposed to be bad for us? I seem to remember hearing that some years ago. I was looking at a container of cool whip to make something yummy yet low in calories, and it has hydrogenated oils in it?? Should I avoid that too??

Yeah, those are the bad stuff.

Limit all processed stuff with ingredients you can't pronounce. Treat them like dessert no matter how many calories are in them.

You're right - the hydrogenated oil isn't good for us. Personally I'd rather have higher-calorie real dairy products than something like cool whip. Not only does it have the hydrogenated oil, but it also has High Fructose Corn Syrup, regular corn syrup and other "stuff":

Cool Whip Original Ingredients: water, corn syrup, hydrogenated vegetable oil, high fructose corn syrup, and less than 2% sodium caseinate (a milk derivative), natural and artificial flavor, xanthan and guar gums, polysorbate 60 (sorbitan monostearate), and beta carotene

Hi I eat a transfat free diet. It is hard at first but once you get use to to it its not so bad. Try the canned wipped toppings some of them do not have trans fats! GREAT CHOICE!!!!

Trans fat are the really bad ones that should be avoided. With an immersion blender and patience you can turn really cold milk into a whipped treat. Some people say you can do it with skim milk, but I have never tried.
