Hello everyone! I am a 5'3 female weighing 150 lbs. My goal is to lose 2 lbs per week. I am burning about 500-600 calories at the gym each day - which MFP then says I should consume 1,700 calories. This seems like a lot to me!? I was thinking more along the lines of 1.200-1,300.. Any opinions?

It also takes into account how active you are in your day to day activities. If you're an office worker who sits down at the computer for eight hours all day, you're considered sedentary (me) and the calories would be quite a bit lower. The minimum calorie intake a day should be 1200. Anymore is considered dangerous for your health.0

Hi there! I'm 5'3" also. In my opinion (and probably the general consensus), 1200 is too low for your activity level. If you're burning that many calories at the gym, you're at the very least lightly-moderately active. Also, being 150lbs, you don't have a whole lot of weight to lose, so you should aim to lose 1/2-1lb per week.0
