ADVICE

Hello Everyone!

I'm new here and have signed up to track calories hoping to lose the last 10 pounds. I am 5'-2" and currently 121 lbs.

I am sure similar questions have been asked here but was hoping to get some advice on my situation.

I was about 126 pounds when I started exercising and trying to lose weight back in October. I am determined to get back down to my college weight of 107 pounds . I started out slowly and tried eating a very clean diet and working out 3-4 times a week.
Since January I have been working out VIGOROUSLY 6-7 times a week ( Spin, TRX , Weight training classes, also running abt 4 miles) and push myself very hard. I recently realized I may not have eating enough calories for the amount of physical exertion but I eat until satisfied and don't try to "diet" or restrict calories. Maybe my body is holding onto calories? The reason I am here is to track the right amount of recommended calories so I don't eat too little. It is recommending I eat 1900-2000 and I have only probably been eating 1300-1400 without realizing it. I don't binge on the weekends, don't drink alcohol, don't have bad eating habits.

Any advice on why I am not really losing weight? I just don't know what else to do! I really want to lose 10 pounds and am getting very frustrated :( I think it is odd i have only lost 4 pounds! ( also got tested for the thyroid thing a couple of months ago. Not because of weight but because it runs in my family, so that can be counted out) I am in excellent fitness shape but I want to look thin.

Thanks in advance!

too great a deficit - aka, you're right, you're not eating enough. Relying on your body to tell you when you're hungry is faulty - that's the same thing anorexics will tell you "I only eat when I'm hungry" obv. their bodies are lying to them and yours is lying to you, too. fill 'er up and you'll likely see the pounds start coming off especially since you're so active!

    Hello and welcome,

I would bet you are dropping inches and building muscle. With only 10 lbs to an ideal weight, you are focusing too much on the scale instead of how your body looks and feels. Working out will mean that your body may weigh 10 lbs more than it did in college, but look a lot different/healthier with muscle tone. Stop worrying about the scale and check your measurements and how you look and feel. Enjoy what you've done

She's not building muscle on a big calorie deficit.

Eating more helped me lose the last 10lbs. It was a slow process, but I lost a lot of fat & inches during that time as well, and finally hit goal weight a month or so back. I set my calories and macro goals according to the info here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/937712-in-place-of-a-road-map-ver-3-0

Worked great, and I'm still following the same plan (although have upped cals a bit more since hitting goal) because I still have some fat to get rid of. But it was definitely the best move I've made. I ate at TDEE minus 20% for about a year with fabulous results. Didn't even gain through the holidays and still enjoyed all the goodies.

    Hello

I believe that you may not be eating enough for your body. With eating more, your body will start to burn the food and lose weight.

    Good Luck
