Suggestions on a good HRM (not too expensive) in the UK?

Hi. I am really getting into my fitness, but when I go to the gym, I dont think the calorie count is very accurate so am thinking of treating myself to a heart rate monitor. Ive been looking around and not sure if having a chest strap is better than just a watch, or even where I can buy it from the cheapest? Your suggestions and recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks. x

I just got the Polar ft60, and I absolutely love it! It seems to be really accurate, and it does come with the chest strap (I think the ones with chest straps are more accurate in your heart rate reading). The FT60 retails for around $135, but the y have other models that are lower in price (Polar FT4 and FT7).0

If you want a good quality basic HR monitor then go for this one...
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Search/searchTerms/POLAR+FT1.htm
Only £39!
However, You may want to pay a little more to get something with a bit more functionality. I just bought this one and had a great deal from Halfords of all places.

This same one in Argos is £89 and Halfords have an online special for £65!
Polar are renowned for being the best in this space so you will not go far wrong!0 -

You can put the models in here - http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/products/compare and compare any two you like :-)0

The FT7 allows data transfer so you can upload and track progress etc. It also allows for manual target zone BPM.0

Have a think about buying used on eBay.0

Polar brands.. make sure to read about the difference between each of the Polar models because some of their models have limitations while others do a,b,c.. you should have to think what you want to do with the HRM, what info you need to know and what features matter most to you. I have a Polar FT40.. it does what I want it to do and has interesting features. Didn't take long to set up.. however you may like some of their other models based on your needs.
Definitely take a look at eBay or Amazon0
