Up and down 50 pounds for the past three years.

so here is my story: every year, for the past three years, id begin sometime in late winter or early spring. i would work out, eat right, and lose 50 pounds. and then, usually around september, i give up and gain it all back. i was two abusive relationships: one with my ex (and father of my kids), one with food. now, ive finally gotten out of the relationship with my ex (it ended 8 months ago, and i gained 50 pounds during and after the very long, drawn out breakup). and id like to end my abusive relationship with food now. i know i can lose the weight; ive done it three times. i just need to stay motivated, and not give up. i was just wondering if anyone else has gone through something similar....i always ate when the relationship was bad....now that its over, i need help getting back on track, and really losing the weight. for good.

My last relationship wasn't abusive really but he put me down a lot and I gained 40 pounds. Now I am on my way back to loving myself so I can love someone else again too :) I'll add you.

its easy to do when you are with someone who doesn't treat you well. when i say abusive, i want to clarify, i wasnt pyshically abused....i was mentally and emotionally abused. name calling, telling me how i'd fail, what a bad mother i am, playing mind games, you name it. it wasnt until after the end of our 6 year relationship that i realized he had a personality disorder; that he was really the one with the problem, not me.

In addition to the abuse issues, you might think about seasonality. Almost every year, and there have been many at my age, I have tended to gain, sometimes despite big efforts, from June until December. And from December until June I lose without even trying. Trying to lose in that season, it melts off. But it comes back starting in summer. All kinds of other mammals fatten before winter, then lose until summer. I've always wondered about whether some of us do the same thing.
