Oops, forgot to mention I haven't listed a source because this is something I compiled that I sometimes use with my patients. Just thought I would share :flowerforyou:0

Why do they add sugar to bread in the US?0
-
I don't know! I don't even know if it's true but lots of people on here say it is and they live there so I guess they would be more likely to know than me!0
-
Sugar is used in bread making to help speed up the yeast 'activation' process.0

awesome, This is just what as lot of people need!
I would make a small change though, adding both baguels and baguettes/french sticks into the avoid section. and stick Pitta breads into the preffered section.
Of course thats just me, youre the dietician :flowerforyou:0 -
Thanks Kimmy Yeah, it depends what you are trying to achieve... for healthy eating I'd say bagels andd breadsticks were ok, for weight loss probably not the best coz they are so dense.
And I'm a dietitian, not nutritionist (all dietitians hate being called nutritionists coz they don't need the same qualifcations we do) :P hahahaha :flowerforyou:0 -
Lols, Changed!0
