Hello there. I'm Caity! I live in a little studio apartment in Long Island, New York with my husband, Josh, and my cat, Moko. Josh is from New Zealand. I'm from my own little world. We're moving back to New Zealand soon. Exciting, huh?
I've gained a bit of weight in the past few years after I stopped playing softball full time after college. (Well, more than a bit... more like 75 pounds.) I miss being an athlete and feeling healthy and I am determined to feel that way again. I've just had a really hard time getting started and I am hoping that by tracking everything, staying organized, and seeking support from others when I get discouraged will keep me on track.
If anyone has some similar goals and is looking for some friends to team up with for support, feel free to send me an invite.

Hey Cathy,
My name is Ava. I am 30, and getting married in October. 6 years ago, I was in top shape, because I had danced my entire life. After I broke my hip, my dance career went along the wayside. I also moved to the beer capital of the US, and had another kid. Needless to say, I'm around 50 lbs overweight. I would love to have a buddy on here to share the journey of getting back into shape with. Let me know.

Have you heard of the Couch to 5k plan? Also called the c25k plan, you can find it at coolrunning.com and if you search the threads, you'll find people on here that use the plan (like me) and It helps!! I never thought I could jog 20min straight at 223lbs and not be out of breath!!

Welcome, this is a great site. New Zealand, that is exciting, I have a good friend that lives there, the pictures she sends are breath taking.
I too have about 70 to loose, at my age it becomes harder to do, and then throw in a messed up thyroid and it's nearly impossible, but I WILL do it, even if it kills me.

Good luck on the weight loss journey! New Zealand?! Way cool....I'm sure you can find an abundance of activities to do there that keep you outdoors in the beautiful country! I too stopped being as active after high school and college. Ten years post high school I'm 70 lbs heavier It's never where I wanted or though I'd be but I can make that change. WELCOME! Like BRUNETTEWIFE, I am also doing the C25K. I NEVER jogged and this morning was my 'off' morning but I still did 1/2 of the workout along with my other daily stuff. I started at 233 and I am now 9.8 pounds down from my first day of my journey (which was June 16, 2010). I attribute to actually eating my calories and working out-something- every day. But my cousin got me turned onto the C25K and I am loving it. Feel free to add me as a friend. Good luck in your journey and take comfort that we are all on the same journey! :flowerforyou:
