Complete Asics girl. Nike's are ok and had bad experience with Saugony ( I think I was fitted wrong) but love Asics. The stiffer the better!!0

Well aren't these the coolest shoes ever!
I would have to agree...I have NEVER heard of or seen these before!! Very cool!!0 -
I wear Saucony as well, but find that now they are giving me shin splints....so I have to go to another brand soon.0

I use Mizuno Wave Creation 9 and I totally love them! I have been using them for 2 years (multiple pair of course) now. Prior to that I had one of nike's running shoes and they did not work out for me at all... I had real bad probalems with pulling calf muscles. Finally, someone from the local Finish Line running stores recommended I change shoes and I haven't turned back. 2 years and no pulled muscles and that is saying a lot considering that some weeks I am running 35 miles a week.
I am very interested in the foot finger things, just a little apprehensive because I worry about the support they would provide in absorning the shock of running on hard surfaces. I saw them at a health fair at work a month or so ago and was intrigued, but I would need to hear more before buying them... as I said, I am very prone to pulled muscles.0 -

Wow, I've seen these before but didn't think of them for exercise  Just thought they were like sandals... now that i see the bottom.. I wish I could afford to buy them. :ohwell:0 -
Tobi, I have the Sprints too. Have you seen the Bikila? Instead of having solid rubber on the bottom, they have little "islands" of rubber and are specially designed for running and running only, as opposed to running, hiking, etc. like most of the VFFs are.
They look more like sneakers and are way cute! I cannot wait to get a pair. I'm thinking it'll be September before I do, but the minute I have $100 extra lying around... these babies are mine!
Clew & Georgette - they are so comfy and a big conversation piece on on the trails! The only bad thing about them is if you run through grass, flowers get stuck between your toes. Which really is kind of cool if you ask me...0 -
I have Brooks Ghost 2 running sneakers. They're brand new and I adore them0

For home fitness work (strength training, cardio, etc.) I wear Saucony Grid Virtue's...it's Saucony's 'trainer.' For walking and the tiny bit of jogging I do, I wear Asics. I'm rather wide in the toe box, so Saucony and Asics fit me best.
I LOVE the Grid Virtue shoes. They're incredibly light, offer fantastic lateral support (for side to side jumping stuff) and are comfy cozy!0 -
I currently use the Mizuno Wave Inspires. I love them!!
I have real problem feet (really really long but really really narrow etc) and these are a complete dream to run in.
I would go and get the gait analysis done at a specialist store though if you are between pairs, it really does give you a better idea of the ranges/type of shoes you should be looking for! Especially as most of these trainers are £90+ you want to make sure you get it right!!!0 -

OK...I'm officiallly whining for a pair!! WAH!! They look too cool for words and if they are comfy to boot (no pun intended) then for sure I want a pair. I'm due anyway for a new pair of runners/cool toe shoes!!!0 -
saucony ans asics. My feet hate all others.0

Sherrie - I did a good bit of research before I bought my VFFs and I thought about the Bikilas when I bought my Sprints last week, but didn't want to dive in head first only to find that I don't like them. The $75 was a bit easier to justify than the $100 for the Bikilas, but I have to agree that I will likely wind up with a pair before too long! Ultimately, I am very pleased with my purchase since I did want something that I could easily use for more than just running.
When it does come time for me to buy the Bikilas, I am sooooo going for the pink ones!! They are completely cute!!!0 -

Georgette - This was mentioned by another poster earlier in the tread, but you really do need to work your way into these shoes. I can attest to the fact that they are very comfy, but I have only just started to run in them and even then it is for short periods of time. If you are in the market for new shoes, make sure that these are not your only pair, otherwise you risk injury.0 -

Thanks for the heads up Tobi, appreciate it! :happy:0 -
Asics----lov them!0

New Balance are what I use in the gym and soft tracks. When I hike or trail run I love to wear Teva or Merrell.0

What kind of shoe would you recommend for someone who is just starting out, and doesn't want to put a lot of $$ into shoes? I'm not 100% sure I will stick with it yet... Any suggestions will be appreciated. I will be using them for walking and slow jogging for the time being. TIA...
