Getting the most out of Wii fit

When my fiance does wii fit he genuinely finds it quite the workout, for myself (having spent quite a bit of time in the gym previously) I find that a lot of the stuff barely gets my heart rate up. Here's what I do to maximise my wii fit workout:
* Start with a warm up exercise like step plus then make every 2nd exercise hula because while I would get very bored if I did it many times in a row, it gives me a kick start in heart rate for the next exercise
* When I do rhythm boxing I try to move with the 'instructor' as he is showing me the moves as well as when I am supposed to do it... that way I'm never standing there letting my heart rate drop
* I always finish my workouts with 10-20mins of free step with weights. That is, everytime I step up and step down, it is accompanied by some type of arm exercise (e.g. lateral raises, shoulder presses, bicep curls, tricep extensions). I do the exercise in time with the beat ie 2 counts up, 2 counts down and change the exercise every hundred steps.
Have others thought of any ideas? I would love to hear them :flowerforyou:

Great idea for the workout. I love Wii Fit, as a recreational activity, not as a workout. But getting creative, I would use these ideas to workout. I would say to help with the workout, perhaps try to exaggerate activities. For example, the tight rope you could do SUPER high knees. Or the balance ball one, get your arms involved. These will help get your heart rate up a little, but at least it helps. :]0

Really good ideas. I do that with the boxing too. I can't do the hula though - haven't got the rythym! I use My Fitness Coach on the Wii and I also march on the spot during the rest periods because I can't stand the thought of keeping still during a workout. My husband thinks I'm obsessed! He's banned me from doing any Wii workouts todays because he wants me to help him tidy the house. I'm getting withdrawl!0
