In the Gym, 5 days a week

I do Chest, Back, Shoulders, Legs, Arms... then rest for two days and repeat. Am I overtraining? Am I undertraining? I see everyone talking about 5x5, which is the same thing 3 times a week with a day in between...
See I actually like going to the gym, I would rather have a 5 day routine than a 3 day routine... But I also want to maximize growth where I can.

You're not overtraining. People throw that term around a lot without realizing what it actually is.
What does the rest of your workout look like?0 -
Are you trying to bulk? Have you looked into split programs. I know most here (myself included) tout the greatness of full body routines, but split routine can be just as good. My husband works out 5 days a week and hits a different muscle group each day. I've done a 4 day a week upper/lower split in the past. You can train this way and see growth as long as you're training heavy and eating at a surplus. Bodybuilding.com has a ton of plans, including splits, if that's what you'd prefer. As long as you're giving your muscles 24-48 hours to recover before working that particular group again, you should be fine.0

I think he means he has a day for chest, one for legs, one for shoulders etc.0

That makes sense. For some reason I was thinking he was shag he did all that on one day 3 times a week, I think because of the comparison to 5x5. That does not seem like overtraining, either. I'm pretty sure that's my husbands exact split.0 -
It is a lot of peoples' split, or a four day version where the arms get split, bicep and tricep, and put with another day.0
