Every time I exercise I get tired and achey and sick..

How can I stop this and motivate myself?! I tried to do a 30 minute workout (jillian michaels 30 min shred) and after 12 minutes I just couldn't do anymore. I am very overweight and I am too uncomfortable to do any excersise outside my room..there is walking but i never feel like that does much for me! How can I push through? Any help appreciated!

  • Don't get discouraged! If you can only do 12 minutes, then only do that. The more times you try and the more stamina you build, the longer you will be able to go. Somedays I can get through my video and somedays I can't. The fact that you are trying is what is really important. Keep going! You will do great!
  • Have you tried doing aerobic exercise in a pool? Even just walking back and forth in water (water striding) can be great for your cardiovascular health and a good way to get exercise without overburdening your joints!

It's likely that walking is doing something for you. Continue with that until you're reading for more vigorous exercise.

You can also modify 30 Day Shred, or any workout you choose to do. Make it easier on yourself or do it without weights. Promise yourself that next time, you'll make it 13 minutes! Working your body harder than it's used to is going to make it tired and achey. Do it gradually.

You don't have to go from 0 to 30DS. Ease into it. There is nothing wrong with starting small or slow and working up. In fact, that's better for you are you're less likely to burn out or injure yourself. Walking is a great place to start, it truly is. Also, if you can do 12 minutes, that's great, too. So, say, do the first 10 minutes today. Rest/walk tomorrow. Do 12 minutes the next day. Rest/Walk. If 12 felt ok, go for 12 again, if you feel fine, try to hit 15 and so on and so forth.
