Upping Protein, Cutting Back Carbs

I am trying to add more protein to my diet, but am not a huge meat eater. I love fruit and most vegetables, but am not a fantastic cook and tend to stick with the same old boring things. I do not eat fish at all, unfortunately. I know I need to cut back on carbs, they are my weakness. I have tried to make some healthy changes, like wheat bread, wheat pasta (when I do eat pasta). I want to eat NORMAL foods, not protein shakes, or soy milk, etc...just regular things my family will eat. I have just started back using MFP and my diary is open. I am open to suggestions!

Egg, regular skim/low fat milk, greek yogurt, nuts/nut butters (although watch the calories on those), brocolli, kale, romaine lettuce, spinach, beans. Here's a link to a good article on it...

Beef and chicken are by far your best options if you don't eat fish.

Protein shakes perhaps? Beans are good but have a lot of carbs as well.
  • What about cheese? or eggs? I know we keep boiled eggs on hand for snacks.

Bumping this, as I'm in the same boat, right down to the no-seafood part and have had a wheat sensitivity since before I was trendy. :)

Thanks for the tips! I do eat almonds and peanut butter. I also eat boiled egg, but they have to be fresh and hot, not refrigerated. I've just come to the conclusion that I love unhealthy food!!! :-) I will try to incorporate more of these things into my diet.

I LOVE greek yogurt and eat it everyday!!! But it's high in sugar....
