should i log the carbs & sugars in fruit & vegetables?

hi
so basically i know that all calories count, so i should log their calories, but its kinda silly that a few CARROTS have 20 something grams of sugars, which is like 1/2 of my daily quantity..
so should i log them just as calories, everything except sugars, or everything except sugars and carbs?

You think the carbs in the carrot will just disappear as soon as you consume them?0 -
Depends what you want to track..if you are diabetic or prediabetic...tracking carbs is very important as high sugar levels can cause many complications . I eat very low carb so that I can keep my insulin dosages as low as possible. root vegetables like carrots and potatoes and all fruits and fruit juices are not my friends and eaten only in very limited amounts. I go by portion sizes mainly. I have entered my usual foods that I eat on a regular basis so it is easy with one click to enter the foods that i eat. If you are setting up your usual foods and need to enter them you might as well enter as many of the items as you have available to you . YOu only have to do it once.0

Why not ignore the bogus sugar recommendations that MFP provides? The settings that MFP defaults to are pretty silly. I recommend that you ignore the sugar column totally (I have mine hidden in my diary). I have lost 75 lbs and elimiated my diabetes and I have never once even LOOKED at how much sugar I consume. Sugar is a sub-set of carbs so if you are keeping an eye on carbs, that's all you need.
There is nothing inherently wrong with sugar. It is just like protein or fat or carbs. None of these are evil. We need sugar and protein and carbs and fat and sodium etc. to be healthy. There are of course low-quality carbs/fats/proteins/sugars... I'm sure you can think of a few. But that is no reason to avoid really high-quality nutritions carbs/fats/proteins/sugars... such as carrots!!! :flowerforyou:0 -

Sugar is just a carb. As long as you're eating enough fats and protein, your carbs/sugar aren't important unless you have a medical issue that requires carbs/sugar to be monitored. As long as you're under your calorie goal, you'll lose weight. Some people find that sugar (even from fruit) causes them to have more sugar/carb cravings. If this isn't the case for you there's no need to limit sugar.0
