During Zumba, I normally burn an estimate of 525-550 calories in an hour according to my Polar HRM. Today, I worked out harder, had a higher heart BUT I only burned 481 calories. Is it me or HRM? Or is it possible work out harder and burn few calories?

    A few things possibly:
    1) How long have you been doing Zumba? Is your body now getting used to the workout?
    2) Diet....have you forgotten to log in "snacks"?
3)....and Iove this one.....check the batteries. I ran into this yesterday.....duh!!!

I was going to ask the same thing..maybe your body is getting used to it.

It is possible that at some point during your class your HRM watch was not receiving a signal from the strap. This can be caused by a few things. Low batteries in the strap or watch, dirty connections on strap, cross chat between near by HRMs, etc.

My normal first course for action if I notice abnormal readings is to clean the strap thoroughly.

I'm confused on how not logged in a snack would cause her HRM to record a lower calorie burn?
