Hi!

Hey there! My name is Samantha, I am 22 and I am a full time housewife constantly doing everything! I have a dog Hera and I have been walking her every day (except some days if the weather is not good or if I feel I need to take a break) for anywhere from 1-2 hours. My husband and I are getting ready to start up airsoft in about a month so we will be busy running around with gear for hours a couple times a month. We are really looking forward to it! This will be good for keeping us active (my husband is a bit lazy but recently lost 10 pounds somehow…) and meet new people. I found out I have slightly high cholesterol (runs in the family) so I changed our diet to a lot more chicken and a lot less red meat (probably why my husband lost 10 pounds) so I have already changed the way I eat for the better!
I have been trying to lose weight for a while now. It seems almost impossible to lose more than 1 pound no matter what I have tried. My goal is to lose 10 pounds and I hope that if I really stick to this I might be able to do it! I am using a fitbit to try to help with staying active and lose weight. I get almost all of my 10,000 steps just in that walk! I do other exercises throughout the day while cleaning and cooking. I did cut soda out of my diet for awhile and it did not help it made it worse for me I think…I started getting tired and grouchy, I also gained 4 pounds in what seemed like water weight. I recently brought it back (I love Dr. Pepper and it makes me happy and I life is too short to cut things out that you love) and I only have 1 a day at the most, still some days without it but it is basically my coffee lol. I lost the 4 pounds I had gained after I started bringing it back. I hope this time I will be able to lose some weight!

I drink a lot of water mostly. If I am going out to do some shopping I might take some fruit punch (pre mixed with no sugar) in hopes to not stop and get a soda. But like I said I do have 1 dr pepper a day (unless I dont feel I need it) now to keep up my energy. I get really worn down from everything and it really helps bring my energy back up, and make me happier so I dont snap at my husband lol.

*thought I should add I dont like coffee or tea*
  • Do you like the crystal light? water and crystal light packs are my go to drinks im not a big coffee or tea person myself. What kind of exercise do you do other than walking?

Yea the crystal light is good and helpful! But they are not that good for you. The fake sugar is actually bad for you according to a couple doctors I have talked to so I try to keep it at a minimum. I avoid diet sodas, yes it has no calories but it will actually make you hungry. The sweetener in it actually makes your body think it is hungry so if I am going to have a soda for an energy boost I go for a regular soda. I do a lot of lunges, squats, push ups, run up and down the stairs, and so on.

*I just want to say I have been drinking Dr. Pepper and other soda's for most of my life. They are my coffee and they make me happy! I refuse to cut it out of my life completely. I have always had soda and I have never been overweight so I do not really see the connection between soda and being overweight*
  • I have to say that soda is pretty much the worst thing you can put in your body and you should really try to cut it out, no matter how much you like it. Like you said, artificial sweeteners are just as bad, they trick your body into thinking it has ingested sugar which leads to insulin being secreted unecessarily, leading to diabetes, weight gain, and hunger. Best idea, don't drink ANY calories. Water, tea, black coffee. The reason you gained weight after you stopped was probably to sudden stop of caffeine. Try weening off using tea. Use a little sugar if you need to. And if you really can't kick the soda habit, go for the local brands made from natural stuff, Tom's Naked Soda and Hosmer Mountain for example. The first week will suck because you literally get addicted to the soda, but once the withdrawal is over, you will feel awesome. You've got to suck it up and kick the habit, your body will thank you in the long run.

In a way I agree with what you are saying. If I really had a bad weight problem like my brother or other people I know I would cut soda out but I dont. I am 5'5" and 150 medium frame. I am not overweight I am just not happy with where I am. I once cut soda out of my diet for about 3 - 4 months and nothing changed ( except my mood). I am a strong believer in enjoying your life because you only live once, and sometimes not very long. I have watched family members go through cancer, extreme health problems, serious accidents and so on. I want to enjoy life, not look back and think "why didnt I do that" or "I should have enjoyed myself" and so on. So 1 soda a day or every other day is fine in my book because that 1 soda makes me very happy! Everyone around me even comments on how happy it makes me lol they are like "are there drugs in there cause you are way to happy!" I even had a manager (I worked retail in a mall and was constantly dealing with customers) be like "Here is some money you need a soda before you bite a customers head off" he paid for more than 50% of my drinks. To me a little is ok, its when you go over board that it is a problem.
