Targeting Thighs and Bum

Hi all,

Looking for some general advice. I have been losing weight since January and pretty happy with how I look.. except my thighs and bum. I think I have quite high muscle mass so I really don't want to build muscle up yet.. instead want to decrease the size of them!

My plan is as follows and any advice would be great:

A mile run twice a week
20 minute stint on the cross trainer (on a high level) twice a week.

I also complete 30 sit ups and 30 squats every night. But, it's not like I've been doing this and not shifting.. last week was the first after losing my initial weight by cutting calories.

Could anyone give me some advice as to whether this will decrease the size of my thighs or make them bigger due to muscle gain.

Thanks in advance.

You can't "target" certain areas for fat reduction. The only thing you can do is decrease your overall body fat %. You do that by eating at a moderate caloric deficit and lifting weights that are heavy (for you). Those things will decrease the size of your body in general, and I'm sure your bum and thighs will reduce along with your other parts as well if you lose enough body fat.

    Lift heavy. Squats and deadlifts.

    Exactly this.

Plus don't be afraid to squat, lunge and dead lift with heavy weights. It won't add bulk, it will cause you to tighten up, look athletic and lose inches as long as your diet is right as well.

My thighs & bum have always been my "trouble areas", too. :) Lifting has really helped me, I'm still not where I want to be but I'm getting close & closer.
I don't know if you have access do a gym, but if you do try the above mentioned exercises:
Squats, lunges, deadlifts. I also work my abductors & adductors & do standing donkey kicks on the cable tower with a cuff around my feet.
If you don't have a gym membership there's a huge amount of exercises to do at home; bodyweighed squats & lunges, pistol squats, donkey kicks, bridges, ... Just google it! :)

Okay brilliant, thanks for all your advice, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to exercising. I have reduced my body fat percentage since starting so hopefully completing the above will enable me to reduce the size of my thighs and bum!
