I just heard about MFP this morning and it looks really great. I went to enter my breakfast and was happy to find everything in the food database so easily.
I'm a busy single mom - but I have a desk job, so I'm sitting down most of the day. I have to remind myself to get up every now and then and get a drink or walk around a bit. I have a really hard time making time to exercise. I already start my day at 5:30am, so I can't imagine getting up earlier, and by 8pm when I'm tucking in the little one, I'm wiped and ready to go to bed myself. My job is flexible, so I could go to the gym during the day, but usually if I do, some crisis hits while I'm gone and then I feel guilty!
I have a lot of weight to lose - but I have got to lose it since I need to support my kids and be around for them for a long time. Years ago I lost a lot of weight, and I swear the key was writing down EVERYTHING I ate. This site seems like it will be easy to do that.

Hiya!
I'm another newbie & I thought I'd offer you a bit of encouragement. It is hard, doing the single-mom-thing (I raised 2 boys on my own until I remarried 11 years ago, when the youngest was 16) - and time is a very precious commodity. It takes a bit of creativity - but you can find time for a little here & a little there - which will all add up in the long run. I started with walking during my lunch breaks & between classes at school. Investing in a simple pedometer was one of the best things I did, since seeing the steps add up helped keep me motivated. Starting small is smart. It's easier to maintain - and much better than not starting at all :-)0 -

Thanks for the encouragement. It's nice to hear from others who have been in the same situation and worked it out!0
