eating in the middle of night

Every night between 12am-4am i always end up waking up (or sometimes i havent even fallen asleep yet) and go grab a snack. sometimes it happens twice a night, ie 1 am and 3 am. i make healthy choices and account for the calories but i hate starting my day with already 300-400 of my cals gone. i have convinced myself it helps me sleep but sometimes i dont even end up falling asleep after i have my snack. i dont know if this is habit or true hunger at this time. im starting to think im just in the habit of it now. has anyone experienced this and how did you stop?

    I used to do that every night. I find most nights if I fill my water bottle with warm water and drink before bed it helps me sleep and also keeps me full.
