losing motivation each day! :(

So i'm a 5'6 male and I started at just slightly over 170, I wasn't big, but I was chubby and I was tired of being of chubby so I started losing weight and about 3 months in now, I'm 150 flat, however i've been 150 for like 3 weeks now! it's just not going down at all.. I've been consistently going to gym and my eating habits has stayed about the same.. my intensity at the gym has only grown. Normally I run on treadmill and do some weights when I'm there, I just want to get down to 140 so only 10lbs more but it's not even moving a single pound, I'm assuming I've plateau'd, so does anyone have any advice to break it? cause I'm not one to get demotivated to easily but there's only so many more weeks I can take of going to the gym and seeing no results anymore :(

help?!

try switching up the amount of calories you eat everyday and the workouts as well. that way you 'trick' your body and it doesnt plateu.:) and dont feel bad, you already have done a great job by losing what you have!! it helps me when i look at pictures of myself in the weight i dont want to be.... good luck!!

When I was a "gymrat" years ago, my trainers told me I had to change things up. It usually worked. I would do instead of 40 minutes on treadmill, 20 on treadmill, 20 on rower, 20 on bike, etc.
It's individual but one time eating more fat, I had an icecream, broke my plateau, I think I was cutting back too much...another time, a root canal (don't suggest that) : )
Weight lifting helps too but remember muscle weighs more than fat...I looked great at 145 and fat at 145 in my life, so numbers aren't everything.
Changing things at the gym and maybe with your diet and patience should help.

I hate to ask the MFP boards' favourite question, but: are you eating enough? It sounds like you're very active, so it's important to fuel that. You're already within the healthy weight range for your height, so unfortunately, those last 10 lbs are going to come off a lot more slowly than for someone who has a large amount of fat stored. Ideally, you need a small calorie deficit and only expect to lose maybe 0.5 lbs a week.

As you've been doing this for quite a while, you might also want to consider a diet break for a couple of weeks where you still track what you're eating, but you eat at your maintenance level. It can help both physically and psychologically. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/the-full-diet-break.html

Yeah, I guess you're right about losing about 0.5 lbs a week.. hopefully I can stay patient enough for that. and yeah, I for sure eat enough.
