Hi All, I am in need of some ideas to stop compulsively eating while cooking, standing at the counter etc.

I am trying to eat more mindfully, and I have noticed when I get home and I am super hungry, I am eating while preparing the food or grabbing little bits from the cupboards while waiting for the food to cook.

If you have any ideas, or can share what has worked for you to stop this--I'd appreciate it!

Snack on finger foods like carrots or other veggies. But mainly just willpower.

Do you plan snacks consistently throughout the day? Maybe if you add a small snack before heading home from work, you won't feel so ravenous while cooking dinner.

When I don't feel like waiting, sometimes I'll pull out a small bowl of grapes to snack on.
  • sometimes if I know a meal will take a while to cook, I'll brush my teeth before I start cooking. Or if I'm starving and can't wait for dinner, I'll eat a pickle. :P

Yes, I have noticed on days I plan a snack before my 1 hour commute home I am not so ravenous when I get there. I love the ideas of putting out fruit or eating a pickle! When I am extremely hungry, willpower is not enough! Thanks ya'll.:)

I chew on gum or suck on a peppermint disc otherwise I'm a HUGE snacker while prepping my meals.
