I am looking for men that might share a days meal with me that are over 50, 60, 70 years old. My sisters friend is really working at the weightloss thing and he is 78. I just love him and he now walks 3 laps of the school track about 5 or more times a week. He couldn't walk a whole block without resting the first day about a month ago.

So, he is 5'11", and about 200 now. I tried making up a food plan for just one day but I want a guys input.

Thanks so much, denise

PS any little tips that might help him also are sooooooooooo welcome!! he has diabetes, just diagnosed with it but his doc says walking is fine for him;)

I'm a 63 year old man and have lost 120 pounds since Nov 8 2008 by changing my lifestyle and recording everything on MFP. I went from 294 to 174, as my avatar now shows. My lifestyle change has included daily walking of at least 1 hour, better food choices, staying away from processed sugars as much as possible, eating complex carbs instead of simple things like white bread & rolls, and increasing my dietary fiber to at least 30 grams per day. These changes have also gotten me off of all of my meds for blood pressure, trigycerides, and blood sugar. I am no longer "on the slippery slope to Type II diabetes", according to my doctor.

So these are my tips, feel free to look at my food and exercise diary. I've made it public. I have given up nothing I was not willing to give up for the rest of my life and I am not eating anything that I am not willing to eat for the rest of my life.

There is nothing exotic or special about my diet. Just common sense and paying attention to portion size, eating slower, chewing my food thoroughly, and drinking plenty of water. I wish your sister's friend luck with his journey to a new lifestyle.

I am so glad I finally listened to my doctor and made the changes. I feel 30 years longer and am looking forward to watching my grandchildren grow up.

Oh Thank you sooooooooooo much!!! This letter is going to mean a lot to him. I don't know how I will ever manage to get him on a food diary but hey, it's worth the try. I will have this letter printed out for him and my sister can pull up your food diary for him to see!

Thank you and congrats on such wonderful success, a real inspiration for Marv as well as for the rest of us! Denise
