Good Lunch Ideas??

I'm looking for decent ideas for an early lunch.
Every other week I struggle because I have lunch at 11 at work.
I often cave and just have cereal because I don't know what else to have. Also realizing that there's got to be something much better for me.
I'm looking for either a good lunch...or late breakfast....I'm stuck right now, so know on top of kicking up my exercise I really need to get my eating to the best possible, so any input would be greatly appreciated!

What about making yourself a nice wrap? You could put chicken breast and salad in, or tuna, or low fat cheese. They'll keep in a lunchbox too and are a nice alternative to a regular sandwich!
Or you could make yourself tuna pasta salad or something! Tuna pasta doesn't need to be warmed and if you put vinegar in and low fat mayonnaise and don't go overboard you won't break your diet.0 -

Thanks, I've always wondered about how a wrap would keep...
I make like tuna pastas, and rice or salads..but I'm that person that has a really hard time eating tuna, it's one of those things I really have to crave in order to not feel sick eating it. I eat probably once a week.. I'll have to try that though. I use miracle whip, and am not a fan of mayonnaise so for the most part I only use very little of it...I find that too much of it makes me really nauseous, something about the smell and taste..0 -
Some of my lunches come from left over dinner the night before. Packed and in the lunch bag right away after dinner so I am not tempted to nibble. A salad is always fun. Grab greens, veggies, fruit. Then nuts, meat, fish, cheese or eggs for protein.
I have yogurt, a piece of fruit and a cup of cut up veggies in the lunch bag everday for snacks. (I admit, I eat when I am bored or stressed) Having good snacks keeps me on the right path.
I try to get everything logged into my food diary before going to bed.
Good luck. Oh, frozen entre's are an option, just don't use them much.0 -
What about using cottage cheese ? That's always lovely with salad and it's low in fat.0

Yah...Cottage cheese.. I hear all these great things about it. I can't do it. The sight of it makes me gag. I can eat it unknowingly but to actually eat it and be able to visually see it..
Thanks though. (I started eating Greek Yogurt)...I tend to do like that 0% its low in cals.and then I add a bit of honey to it.
Thanks for the response though. I do like my salads..Just more or less need a variation because I find I can't eat a salad everyday at lunch. Ill start to eat it, but if I get bored with it I'll often stop eating it and just go hungry.
I do pack lots of fruit and different veggies daily as snacks. The good thing about work is for the most part if I bring those snacks I will eat them when I get the opportunity being at work is a bit easier than being at home, its what I have packed or ultimately its nothing at all..0 -

I used to be like that with tuna. I started with flavoured ones from Aldi, sweet chilli. Found I can eat that anytime, and have now slowly got to a point where I just love tuna!
To carry you through from 11am you need a little carbs, fat, protein and fiber.
A salad, with lean meat and maybe some kind of pulses. Have plenty of meat.
A wrap, with a high fiber content with meat and veggies.
Fritatta with bacon and vegetables.
Pea and ham soup is a great one.
A sandwich and a protein shake mid afternoon.
For afternoon snacks... Jerky, cheese string, nuts, Greek yogurt with berries.
Hope that helps!

Just cannot do cottage cheese. Keep trying but won't happen. I keep trying because a lot of the time in doing so I can end up loving foods I hated... As time goes on I think I'll always have cottage cheese. It's not the flavour, it's the texture. Just makes me heave!0 -
Can you do a smoothie? One with veggies, fruit, and some protein. I love them! And so many combos!0

Thanks for all the ideas. Thank-You for incorporating the snacks. I have a hard time getting in my snacks. I work with kids, so we aren't technically supposed to eat on the floor. We keep snacks in the closet, but I still have to be mindful of allergies so generally I find granola bars (without peanuts) and then fruit... I can't tell you how hard it is to find granola bars without peanut butter, I'm actually looking for a recipe as I type this... But regardless thanks for your ideas, I should start looking for different recipes and try to incorporate some of these ideas in to help me not get bored and really get my weight loss kick started again!0 -

Right, i always wonder if I blend it up with some fruit if I could eat it.. lol.. I think I'll just stick to the greek yogurt, its as healthy with as much protein and I don't feel as though I'm going to be sick...0 -

I've tried the sweet chili thai and quite enjoy it, actually.. I was eating it everyday and that became the problem.. I got quickly tired of it.. but I will start eating it and subbing it in rather than eating it everyday.. Should help me enjoy it..
I know theres a chili thai one thats alot more spicy... I think the brand we have here is gold seal or clover leaf.. (those are both big brands here atleast one of them maybe both have the flavored ones..good luck!0 -

I can do a smoothie. I've brought my cup before.
I always just wonder if I should have so many smoothies in a day.
I do one in the morning because I have a hard time eating when I wake up...
but I am sure it can be used from time to time so I don't get tired of eating the same thing..
Do you have any recipes you follow for smoothies?
I have never made one with vegetables.. only fruits... do you think that a smoothie cup blender would blend up veggies to the right consistency? Or have you made one before and kept it a couple hours, I almost wonder if I could pre-make it and then drink it at lunch?0 -
I am sure that you could make it in your smoothie cup. I make one that has half a banana (small), some frozen berries (usually strawberries or blueberries), about 3 cups (or whatever will fit in your cup) of baby spinach, 1/4-1/2 cup plain low fat greek yogurt, and 1/4-1/2 cup of coconut or almond milk. I really love this smoothie. I know it sounds odd, but it is filling for me, and I love getting all of that spinach in (even though you cannot taste it at all). You can really play with the flavors too. I know some people like to put peanut butter or protein powder in it as well. Maybe some oats too. I drank this all throughout my pregnancy and I really feel like it gave me energy and just made me feel good, not weighed down at all. I hope you can find something that works for you!0

Do you have access to a microwave and toaster?
My go to lunch at present is scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, tomatoes, cottage cheese with rocket on either a piece of toast or a muffin split.
I scramble the eggs in the microwave (really easy, just give them a stir every 15secs or so), pull them out when they are still slightly runny, mix in everything else and them dump them on the bread.
Ultra yummy and I am finding that I am still 'full' several hours later which is awesome cause I'm not looking to snack in the afternoon.0
