HELP! In need of workout plan to train for hiking!

My P.E. class has finally started on our hikes for the course and we completed one hike so far, which I was able to complete, but we will be starting on more difficult terrain within the next couple of weeks. Our next hike will be considered moderate/difficult and include steep slopes, walking in water, and rope climbing. I have been doing regular cardio and weight lifting but I would like to know if anyone has any types or a guides to preparing for hikes. Thanks!

    I am committed to a charity hike in September. I currently only do a daily dog walk of a little over three miles on mixed terrain including a few steep hills (fitbit credits 20 flights).
