Wanted: Support and Encouragement

Hi All!

Let's start with the basics. I am 23 years old, 5'4, 160 pounds. The heaviest I've ever been. I have been (and am currently) living abroad for the past 8 far away from my friends and family and have gained a noticeably amount of weight (20 pounds). I know I have no one to blame but myself. I feel uncomfortable and disappointed. But I need some help. I'm not sure what else I can do. I eat way better here then I ever did in the USA (I worked 50+ hours waiting tables and most meals were greasy restaurant meals.) and I even have a gym membership that I have been using 3-4 times a week (I never worked out at home), although I am guilty of heavily drinking usually one or two nights of the weekend. I started noticing the weight gain when my parents commented to me about it from a picture on facebook. Summer is right around the corner and I really want to get back into shape before I have to spend the next couple months in a bikini(I live on the coast). I have lost weight before (Weight watchers) but living in Europe I am now faced with the challenges of using the metric system, confusing food labels, and not having access to the same foods I am used to back home. I have cracked down on my diet and pushed myself hard at the gym for the past two and a half weeks with no results as of yet. I don't feel tempted with bad foods but I have been feeling really down and self-conscience. I am doing a good thing, I want to feel better about myself not worse! I really need some encouragement and support because I don't want to give up hope.

    For those asking for motivation/support/help;

    1. You have to do it yourself. Nobody else can motivate you.
    2. Do, or do not. There is no "try".
    3. If you fall off the horse, get back on and ride.
    4. You're doing great! Keep up the good work!
    5. The only failure is failing to get started.
    6. A moment on your lips, the rest of your life on your hips.
    7. It's not your SO, your BF, your family, your job, or anybody else that made you overweight. It's the choices YOU made.
    8. Do you really want to sabotage your hard work by eating that?
    9. Of course you don't have the time. Make the time.

    And if none of these work;

    10. Quit whining and get off your *kitten* and just DO IT.

    Do not give up hope girl! The beginning is hard you gotta push yourself and stay consistent! You are doing a fabulous job! Stick with logging and eating healthy foods. Print off a metric conversion card and keep it in your wallet. You can feel free to add me I am on here everyday and love new friends! It is hard being away from friends and family. Surround yourself with positive healthy people and get sweating!! Hugs

  • Have you tried cutting out alcohol and seeing if it makes any difference to your weight? It doesn't make any difference to my system when I tried it but I know it's worked for friends of mine.

    Else there must be hidden sugars or fats somewhere in the foods you eat. Do you drink much fruit juice maybe, it's so full of sugar.....
  • I have now been working out for 2 and a half months and it took me about 4 weeks to see any results. For me it was lowering my stress levels around my weight before I allowed myself to see any changes (and my body changed more than the scale did). Keep up the good work and you will start to notice changes before long. You are also welcomed to add me!

    don't despair! Your desire alone is a HUGE part of your SUCCESS to come! I would love to give you some extra help and motivation! I give free fitness coaching because I used to be 70lbs heavier than I am now since the time I was 14. I struggled with weight my whole life until I finally found what worked for me. Having someone to motivate you daily and hold you accountable to your goals is a HUGE help!

    I have a free 90 day online fitness challenge group coming up that you are more than welcome to join. It is fun, interactive and challenges you to keep focused on your weight loss goals. It is a small private group through Facebook where we do daily challenges, motivational tips, post when we have completed our daily workouts, track our food, and support and encourage each other.

    Send me a message if you'd like to join. I would love to be your friend and help you make this happen! You CAN do this!
