weight versus measurements in hot, humid weather

has anyone out there noticed their measurements increasing in the hot, humid weather? i moved from canada to england a couple months ago, and i noticed that as the summer started my measurements were getting bigger. i assumed this was weight gain, as i hadn't yet resumed my workout routine from before the move, and i was also drinking a bit more alcohol as the british do.
but then when i joined a gym it turned out i'd actually lost a few pounds!!! but still, my measurements are generally a bit bigger now than they were when i weighed a few pounds more. anyone have any explanations for this? the extreme heat & humidity is the only thing that i can think of, and i seem to remember noticing that that happened in canada as well. i've also considered the possibility that i have lost muscle and am therefore fatter but lighter, but it seems sort of unlikely that i could have lost 10 pounds of muscle in 7 weeks.
i am now putting in major time at the gym, and if i can get up enough willpower i will cut out sodium for a few days, too, to see if it might make a difference (i am a major salt junkie, ha!)...

Sounds like your body is retaining water. I live in South Texas and it is very humid, I have not see and change in measurements from when I lived up north, but was not really looking for it. I was in college when I moved back to Texas and was playing football, so I was in great shape then.0

Well I am no expert on this - I only know that I do not eat a lot of salt - very little in fact - and yet my rings don't fit in this heat and humidity. So if my fingers are bigger, would it not make sense that other body parts are bigger too? I dunno, but this humidity is killer !!!!.0
