Introducing myself

Hi. My name is Brenda. I'm a middle-aged mom that in the last 5 years or so have become incredibly overweight. I am in poorer shape than I have ever been. I used to be very diet concious, always choosing low fat high fiber food and such. I am not athletic in any shape or form as I am not competive but have always enjoyed walking. In the last 7 years I had a stillborn son, took care of and lost my mother to cancer, gave birth to my 6th child (I have 5 living), then became very ill and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis which has limited me. I gave up my career as a nurse, tried medical transcribing but my weak wrists and hand joints due to this disease caused me to not continue. I am searching for the open doors that God opens when others such as those shut. During the course of those 7 years I went from "pleasingly plump" but still having a figure to obese. I am sure those 2 to 3 years where my RA was out of control... at times I literally could not walk... to the point I have been now for about a year ... the RA is under control as I am on the right meds.... has had a lot to do with it. Now, with all this weight on me, getting moving is hard!

I need support, but somehow first I have to find the desire within me to do something. I don't like how I feel or look now. It is having an effect on how I feel about myself now, because when I look in the mirror and think of me all I see and feel is this woman that is 47 and needs to shed 80 to 90 pounds. I need to think of me in other ways though.

I know there are things I need to do. A food journal and walking daily is a good place to start for me.

Thought I would introduce me then look at this website.

Thanks for letting me chat.

I am 30 and just starting this journey myself. I have only been here for less than 2 weeks and love it. There are such sweet supportive people on here who encourage you with their stories and offer advice along the way. I have found it helps me be accountable to my self as you see the progress you have made right in front of you. I of all people know this journey is long and hard each of us having our own problems of why we are where we are today but in time I know WE CAN DO IT, All of us!!

I hope that you find support and most of all success towards whatever goals you set along the way... and if you need a cheerleader in your corner count me and as me as a friend... Good Luck Amanda
