Have you sprained your ankle? What was the healing process like? How long before you ran again?
Did you run with any support? Would you recommend it?
I'm out of the boot that immobilized my ankle but I'm using a lace up compression brace from the sports med doc now to walk. It helps. When I get to the point of walking without it, I'm a little overwhelmed with choices of what to use in lieu of it....compression socks? one of those sport ace ankle braces??
I know a lot of people just jump back into running but I'd like to continue trail running at some point. I really want to be careful recovering from this sprain.
TIA

If you got injured, I would not run on it for awhile. Too many people fall out of races because they thought a brace of some sort would be fine. Even things like shin splits you should wait a week before training again.
The best answer anyone can give you is to ask your doctor. If he gives you the go ahead, then do it. People here can not see you situation or look at visual indicators.0 -

I'm not asking if I can run again --- I know when I can but asking about the possible support for when running over long term.0 -
Sorry, I miss read it then. Compression socks really don't help with that, that's not really the purpose of them.
Not many people in general will run with some sort of support since you should be running with the proper shoes/gait.
Taping afterwards is a very common thing (including myself) and I love Kinesio tape. Here's a lil article from Runner's World:
