    I agree that discipline is more important than motivation.

    However, I disagree with his point about bringing money into the equation. That is merely another motivator in disguise, so he kind of backtracks on himself about motivation not being the answer. If money were truly an effective way to get people disciplined about exercise, then all the gyms in the world would be full 100% of the time. I am embarrassed to admit how many years of gym memberships I paid for without setting foot in the gym more than twice in the year. I won't say how many times I have purchased expensive gym equipment and not used it. If you live a fairly comfortable existence and can afford to pour money down the drain, then using money as a motivator will simply not work.

    Developing a habit is what truly works, as he points out in the article.
