Weight/inches

Ok, this may sound weird and I hope I explain this correctly. I am not super concerned about my weight. I am in the healthy BMI range and would like to just stay centered there. However, I would like my measurements to be a certain number.

I am big on setting goals and know approximately how long I can set my weight goals out (1-2 pounds per week) but I haven't been measuring until very recently and would like to get some input on the correlation between weight loss and inch loss so I know where to realistically set my goals.

Anyone mind sharing how many pounds you have lost along with how many inches from your waist, hips, bust you have lost as well?

Also, I am looking to lose 2-3 inches off my waist, and 1 or so from my hips and bust, while losing about 15 pounds. Is this unrealistic?

Thanks for the input!

Well, I think it's along the lines of trying to spot reduce, you can work parts of your body but it won't necessarily come off all in the area you hope it will. I think inches might be the same. Keep toning and strength training and you should drop inches if you have them to drop in problem areas!:flowerforyou: I'm just not sure that us telling you a weight and inches lost will help you to lose inches off your own body by calculating how it worked for us. Not trying to be a downer, honest, just being realistic. Unless I'm totally misunderstanding your topic:ohwell: :flowerforyou:

Oh, not being a downer at all.

I do alot of cardio/strength training. I am just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what a realistic pace of losing inches is. Like I said, I have never much kept track of it.

I suppose it will happen when it happens though!

I moreso do not want to set myself up for a goal where that would be impossible to reach.

    Also, LOVE your pic!

My average has been approx 2 inches (from bust, waist, and hips) for each 10 lbs you lose . . . every body shape is different and will be a bit different but that is my 'typical" loss . . . which also equals one clothing size too!

I'm not really sure of my starting inches, I can only guess based on bra/pants sizing at the time when I was weighing in the mid 190's and wearing a 16/18 or 18/20 - am now in 8/10 and weigh about 145.

    chest 44" - now 36"
    waist - 38" - now 29"
    hips - 46" - now 37"

    I've lost 60+ pounds

After loosing 44 lbs I have lost 10 inches off my waist, 4 inches off my hips and nothing from my neck. Although I can longer notice a double chin in all my pictures.

Wow. My most recent change based on measurements taken at gym are alomost exactly that also! Interesting.

Last 9 weeks I lost 2" off chest and 2" off waist (my two real problem areas) while losing 4.5 kg (9.9 lb)!

Yeah, my waist is a problem. Oh, more specifically, the lack of waist has been! I seem to have lost quite a bit there but never measured before I started losing.

    Mine are:

    Lost 18lbs

Bust was 41" now just under 40"
Waist was just under 32 1/2" now it is 29 3/4"
Hips were just over 42 1/2" now they are 40 3/4"

Sorry I had to put the fractions in because I felt that if I didn't it would tempt fate the wrong way
  • YES, IT IS REALISTIC to lose 2-3 inches off your waist and 1 or so from your hips/bust while losing 15 lbs.

From March to June of 2010, I lost 4 inches off my waist & chest, and6 inches off my hips, and i love 22 pounds all in that 4 months.

As a BeachBody coach, we will to pay more attention to MEASUREMENTS & BODY FAT PERCENTAGE and play less attention to weight and BMI. And one of the reason why we do that is because MUSCLE WEIGHT MORE THAN FAT so as you build muscles as you workout, sometimes our weight wont shift but our measurements will.

    So GOODLUCK!!!

Sounds realistic to me. I was able to lose 13 inches off everywhere in the last 2 weeks but I also measured way more areas than normal. I've only lost 3lbs so far but I have lost another 3lbs that I haven't recorded yet as my weigh in day isn't until Thursday. Areas I measured were biceps, thighs, hips, waist, bust and neck. I did A LOT of cardio though and was over my goal exercise minutes. Plus I'm quite over weight so I'm probably losing more than usual if you're not as heavy.

I think you're right on the money and doing great! Keep it up and good-luck :)
