For chicken breast is it 100g raw or cooked? Thanks :flowerforyou:

Raw gives about 22g Protein. I had trouble with that this morning, there's load that have been uploaded incorrectly on here.0

err not necessarily.
It's dependant on the water weight.
If a 100g raw chicken holds 40% water then do you really think 60g cooked chicken is worth 22g protein?
Also OP - protein is anywhere between 19-24g per 100g of COOKED chicken.0 -
Usually on the label it says 3oz cooked or whatever it may be.0

On the brand of chicken breast that I buy, it shows the calories for 4 ounces of raw equals 3 ounces of cooked. I don't buy other parts of the chicken so I'm not sure if that Is true for all cuts or not.0

I disagree with you.
A standard chicken breast with no added water is around 22g P per 100g.
Also when you cook something you wont remove 100% of the water in it.
The way you cook it will also depend how much water is retained so cooked weight is never very good.0 -

It really varies with every brand of chicken you buy. They all carry different amount of water.
Try testing the common brand you buy.
Boil 100g chicken and then weigh it after. See the difference. It will be the closest measurement to getting accurate protein/calories.0 -

It depends on the brand and whether the cut you are eating is fatty. I buy Perdue Chicken Breast Tenderloins. For that particular brand, 4 ounces raw = 3 ounces cooked. I try to always just weigh it raw for myself. But if there is leftover in the fridge that someone else didn't eat, then I convert the cooked ounces.0 -
You'll never know exactly so just use raw weight, and be consistent every time and it wont matter much.0
