Runner and Gym Rat Here!

Hello! I'm Phroyo. I'm a marathoner and now I'm back to being a gym rat. I used to lift weights in undergrad and just worked out in general around my time in grad school. But once I was done with all of that, I became a runner in 2009. I've run in over two dozen 5ks, a few 10ks, 10 half marathons, and one full marathon and competed in two triathlons.
If you know anything about running, it's great at first. Whatever weight you have on you just falls off. But as you get more into endurance, you feel compelled to eat all the things and carbo loading becomes your friend. I'm interested in getting my muscle tone back and shedding the soft and squishy physique.
I can't really look at scales because I'm so active (my weight fluctuates between 144 lbs and 155 lbs. I'm 5'4" with a flat tummy). But I'd love to learn more interesting ways to track my fitness and make healthy nutrition fun! Just wanted to say hello.

I've just recently gotten serious into running myself. I have made a decision I will just be slow. Lol. I'm about 90 percent paleo so that will be a fun experiment during my half marathon training. So are you wanting to get cut now?0

lol It's alright if you're slow. You're running faster than the person who is still sitting on the couch! It takes time to build up speed and endurance. The fact that you're out there and training says a lot! What race are you training for?
Well, I want to feel strong again. Running is a different animal. You definitely feel like you can endure anything, but you don't feel as strong as you do when you lift weights. In the beginning, I tried to do both but I felt completely wiped out everyday and it got harder to carry the muscle on long runs so I had to take a break from lifting.
So, now I'm just back in the gym doing what I can to feel strong again. I love the idea of tweaking your meals so that you're fueling your body with just enough to perform. I love that about nutrition and fitness. How are you liking the paleo diet? I don't know much about it but I know you must eat a lot of natural things so that sounds all good.0
