Depends on what type of metabolism you have. If you have a slower metabolism you will want a higher carb ratio like my fitness pal has set. So something like 50% of your diet should be from carbs. If you have a faster metabolism you will want a little bit higher protein but try not to exceed 40% of your calorie intake from proteins. You will need a lot of fiber if you have protein set this high. If you arent quite sure then you might want to start off in the middle and see how that works. MFP is very generalized and you should have your program and diet tailored to you. If you do not know how, seek professional help or study up some more on it.

It's the complete opposite of what rbaca said. If you are naturally lean, and handle carbohydrates well it's okay to have a diet higher in carbohydrate. Otherwise if you are someone who puts on muscle more easily or is more susceptible to gain weight higher protein diets wore best. I'd say them 30-40% of the total grams of food taken in should be protein.0

I change mine because I know what is best for my body.

Thank you. I gain easy and its mainly belly fat so more protein is good. What is the best way to figure out how much it should be? I know seeing a professional is best but i don't have the money for that.0 -
I change mine because I'd rather go by grams rather than percent. Right now I'm at 25/30/45, but that changes as my calories change, because I keep my protein and fat constant. I have it this way for personal preference, and playing around with what works best for me.
Under My Home, go to Goals, Change Goals, Custom, and you can change everything there.0 -
I set my macro percentages (40/30/30), as well as my calorie goal (TDEE minus 10-20%), according to the info in this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/937712-in-place-of-a-road-map-ver-3-0
Great info for achieving fat loss, and I've been eating according to this plan for over a year with fabulous results.0
